Individual License Requirements – Biennial Mandatory CEU’s to Maintain Licensure

  • 20 hours for 2 years

  • 10 hours of those 20 in courses requiring personal attendance

  • 6 of those 10 hours in Universal Precautions/Infection Control

  • 4 of those 10 hours in courses related to the practice of electrology such as those listed below.

  • 10 hours in courses related to the practice of electrology by programs, courses, or seminars approved by the Continuing Education Review Committee of the AEA. Such as: Communications. Ethics, Business, Accounting and Technology and health related subjects such as Diabetes, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Plastic Surgery, Allergies.

6% Cosmetic Medical Procedures Gross Receipts Tax– NJ law requires you collect a 6% Cosmetic Medical Procedures Tax (not to be confused with a 7% Sales and Use Tax) from your clients for electrolysis services rendered. This tax is to be reported and remitted quarterly by the twentieth of the month following the calendar quarter when you received payment for services rendered. If not already registered for NJ tax purposes, you may register online at https://www.state.nj.us/treasury/revenue/dcr/filing/leadpg.htm (select :Register a Business for Tax and Employer Purposes). Those of you who are already registered must update your registration information by reporting that you are eligible to collect the cosmetic medical procedures gross receipts tax. You can use the NJ Division of Taxation Online Service to file your quarterly return. To use the online service, you must enter your Federal or NJ taxpayer identification number and Cosmetic Medical Procedures Gross Receipts Tax PIN (Personal Identification Number) or business name. Call the Client Registration Bureau of the Division of Revenue at 609-292-1730 for assistance with the PIN or other questions relating to registration.
